  • Nil by Mouth challenges sectarianism in Scotland on many fronts. The charity is involved in a range of activities to support positive change…


    • Delivers workshops and training to schools, youth groups, workplaces and other organisations to promote understanding of the issues surrounding sectarianism and encourage people to challenge negative attitudes and behaviour


    • Raises the profile of the public and political debate on sectarianism by driving our campaign's message through the media, publicity materials and presentations at a wide range of events


    • Encourages the Scottish government to step up their campaign against sectarianism by devoting more resources to tackle the problem


    • Works with the Scottish Executive, politicians of all parties, football clubs and governing bodies, local councils, the police, employers, trade unions and other organisations to develop a greater united effort to challenge sectarianism throughout society


    • Communicates with the media to engage in the debate on sectarianism, raise the profile of the issue and promote our campaign


    • Delivers presentations and engages in debate and discussion at conferences, seminars and other public events


    • Strives to respond positively to all correspondence from the public. We regret that, due to the large number of inquiries we receive, we are not always able to satisfy every request


    • Encourages people to report sectarian incidents to relevant bodies such as the police, politicians, employers and football clubs


    • Works in partnership with various organisations, from the Scottish Executive to community-based projects, to share experience and support efforts against sectarianism


    • Encourages people to think about their own attitudes and experiences of sectarianism and engage in discussion about the issue


    • Holds awareness stalls at conferences, exhibitions, school and student fairs and other events such as diversity weeks


    • Supports more research into all aspects of sectarianism in Scotland to improve understanding of the problem and generate effective solutions


    • Encourages individuals and organisations to create their own anti-prejudice projects and apply for funding through Sense Over Sectarianism
