Scotmid Support

We are delighted to have been awarded a Community Grant from one of the UK's best known retailers, Scotmid, to support our work in schools across the West of Scotland.

Scotmid’s Community Grant scheme helps deserving causes across Scotland. Since 2012, they have supported hundreds of projects which have touched the lives of people living in the communities they serve. Scotmid is a Co-operative, owned by its members and committed to running its business to high ethical standards.

The grant will support the ‘Neeps & Tatties’ project which has already featured in more than 1,000 schools across the country and provide teacher copies of the book and resource packs which will help thousands of pupils better understand difference.

'Neeps & Tatties' was written by Carey Morning and illustrated by Anna York and uses the Scots language to help children discuss issues around discrimination, inter-generational prejudice and the role young people can play in challenging attitudes.

Earlier this year Nil by Mouth ran a tour encompassing Angus, Dundee, Renfrewshire, the Scottish Borders, South Lanarkshire, Stirling and West Lothian which saw artists, poets and Scot's speakers work with pupils from denominational and non-denominational schools to bring the book and its ideas to life.

Everyone at Nil by Mouth is thrilled with this donation and grateful to Scotmid for giving its support for our work bringing people together.
